Every organisation displays its identity as a patch. A patch has a field, the shape and base tincture of the badge. It may carry an ordinary, a broad shape painted over the field in a second tincture, either as a band across the field or, for the party ordinaries, as one half of the field recoloured, the other half left as the field itself. It may carry a bordure, a trim along the field's outer edge, in the ordinary's tincture. It may carry a charge, the emblem set on top of everything else, in a third tincture.
